Tom Ford

Words cannot quite define the talent and significance that Tom Ford is and  has become to the fashion and creative world. I want to say Renaissance man might be a close definition, and yet he continues to astound.

He brought Gucci to its astounding height in the 90's, gave Yves Saint Laurent a breath of sensual modernity, and directed award winning films. Now, his intimate and very privately seen collection is featured on his website.

I have been waiting for so long to see Tom Ford's 2011 women's collection up close....and, while I personally have not had that honor, his website is finally here!!!! His collections lives up to his infamous tailoring and perfect eye for the small details that mean perfection.
I do absolutely recommend his scent Black Orchid. Its a little spice and a little sex and it is fabulous. It falls under a completely different category of scent taking its slightly masculine notes to a place of feminine euphoria.
Everything Tom Ford touches turns to diamonds, indeed, his beauty line is now the third best seller in the world. His palettes perfectly align themselves with the sensuous availability and complete untouchability of everything that is Tom Ford.
I am so excited to see what else he will do!!!

Spring Runways

So some of Russ Mill's ink drawings are absolutely spectacular!!! The one on the right seems to inspire me the most...but there are so many!!!! I couldn't help but notice the parallel between the movement Mills captures in his drawing and the tremendous rhythm of each collection iterated on the spring 2012 runways...
After reviewing the spring runways, some of my favorite designers produced exquisitely detailed collections, while others used perfect lines and luxe silhouettes to epitomize the glory and movement of spring.

I loved the bold and futuristic prints at Etro, while the shear minimalism at Haider Ackermann was stark and shocking but held a certain transcending beauty.

3.1 Phillip Lim pulled off yet another effortlessly perfect collection.
Alexander Wang mixed textured deftly. While, at Ann Demeulemeester, varying opacities were the reigning deity.
Big belts and plunging necklines followed full bottoms and knee length skirts.  The mini is out and feminine flowing shapes are in...
Chloe showed 20's inspired waistlines, while Celine created sophistication with solids.

Alexander McQueen never disappoints as piece after piece fleshed out a new tendril of design.  John Galliano featured a freshly innocent collection that held a balance of fragility and modernity. What beauty!!!!
